Toch introduceerde het Belgische kaviaarbedrijf Royal Belgian Caviar deze bijzondere combinatie dit voorjaar tijdens de beurs Seafood Global in Brussel. De pure chocolaatjes met romige whisky-kaviaarvulling werden ontwikkeld in samenwerking met een goede Belgische chocolatier, vertelt Mia Verdonck van het bedrijf uit het Belgische Turnhout. \u201cWe lieten de bonbons op de beurs proeven om de reacties te peilen. Op basis daarvan gaan we ze nog iets ver\ufb01jnen en daarna in de loop van het jaar op de markt brengen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>De bonbons hebben een licht ziltige nasmaak. Wat Mia Verdonck betreft mag dat nog wel wat duidelijker uitkomen. \u201cHet moet natuurlijk niet echt heel uitgesproken naar kaviaar smaken, maar een beetje mag best. Ik denk dat we de whiskysmaak ook nog iets meer moeten naar voren moeten laten komen.\u201d Royal Belgian Caviar gaat de bonbons in kaviaarblikjes op de markt brengen, afzonderlijk en als onderdeel van een cadeaupakket met daarbij ook doosjes echte kaviaar.<\/p>\n<p>Royal Belgian Caviar is met een productie van 4 ton kaviaar per jaar de kleinste kaviaarproducent ter wereld. Het bedrijf heeft een eigen steurkwekerij, Aqua-Bio, waar het verschillende steursoorten uit eigen hatchery opkweekt. De eieren worden in het eigen laboratorium tot kaviaar verwerkt.
